2018 Performance / Portfolio Review -13%, could be worse

As 2018 is almost over I think it’s time to review the portfolio and performance.

Overall result is -13%. Somewhat depends on calculations –  I use broker day end values.  so more or less… This can be compared to -9.7% FTSE all share (total return), far below my 30% target for the year.  Many ideas havent worked this year so what has saved me is profit which was really from 2017 and rolled over the year end in the calculation – particularly Tejoori.

2017 Performance c+37%, Not bad, but never enough….

Just done my final performance numbers for 2017 – I recon the figure will come out at +c37%.

This isnt bad compared to FTSE AS Total return in GBP of 12%.  Volatility has been minimal – maximum monthly drawdown was 3.8%.

Alternative Liqudity Fund – adding a touch

Added a touch to this at 17c last week…

It has done very nicely since I bought – returning 7.5c when I paid 13c for the shares to start with, hopefully the returns of cash will continue..

ALF – Net Assets 6X Market Cap, Cash half Market Cap, Potential 5 bag opportunity…

Just put in a 7% portfolio position on the Alternative Liquidity fund at $0.13 – henceforth known as ALF…

18/12/2016 ** WARNING – This share has now paid out $0.075c and is trading at more than I bought it for – now it is much less attractive.  I continue to hold.

This is where Hedge funds go to die, its a fund of side pockets and other iliquid investments.  But its got 5c in cash and much of the rest of the NAV should come eventually, NAV is 0.86c per share.  This discount is extreme, if only one or two investments pay off you get your money back at current prices.  I believe the chances of this are very good.
